General Information

The establishment of the Faculty of Literature under the Rectorate of Bartın University was decided by the Council of Ministers on 27/9/2010 in accordance with the additional article 30 of the Law dated 28/3/2010 and numbered 2809, upon the letter of the Ministry of National Education dated 15/9/2010 and numbered 16444, and published in the Official Gazette dated 30 October 2010 and numbered 27744.

The proposal for the opening of departments and divisions within the Faculty of Literature was examined at the Higher Education Executive Board meeting on 26 January 2011, and in accordance with Article 7/d-2 of the Law No. 2547 amended by the Law No. 2880, it was approved to open 9 departments and the main branches of science affiliated to these departments within the said faculty. These departments are as follows:

Information and Document Management: Bartın University Faculty of Literature, Department of Information and Document Management started its undergraduate programme as of 2020.

Contemporary Turkish Dialects and Literatures: Bartın University Faculty of Literature, Department of Contemporary Turkish Dialects and Literatures started its undergraduate programme as of 2015-2016 academic year.

Philosophy: Bartın University Faculty of Literature, Department of Philosophy was established in 2011 and admitted its first students in the 2015-2016 academic year.

Translation and Interpreting: Bartın University Faculty of Literature, Department of Translation and Interpreting, Department of English Translation and Interpreting has started to accept undergraduate students in the 2019-2020 academic year.

Psychology: Bartın University Faculty of Literature, Department of Psychology started to accept students for the first time in the 2018-2019 academic year.

History of Art: Bartın University Faculty of Literature, Department of History of Art accepted students in the 2019-2020 academic year.

Sociology: Bartın University Faculty of Literature, Department of Sociology started to admit its first undergraduate students in the 2010-2011 academic year.

History: Bartın University Faculty of Literature, Department of History started its education activities as of 2012-2013 academic year.

Turkish Language and Literature: Bartın University Faculty of Literature, Department of Turkish Language and Literature started its undergraduate education in the 2011-2012 academic year.
