BARÜ Faculty of Literature Renamed as the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences
The Faculty of Literature at Bartın University (BARÜ) has been restructured and renamed the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.
The decision came into effect following the evaluation of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) and was published in the Official Gazette on March 6, 2026 (Decision No. 11003). The departments previously operating under the Faculty of Literature will continue their academic activities under the new faculty name.
BARÜ Rector Prof. Ahmet Akkaya stated that the change is part of the university’s efforts to adapt to ongoing developments in higher education and to strengthen its focus on human and social sciences. He also emphasized that the faculty will continue to grow with new academic programs in the future.
