Freedom and Thought in Motion: From French Spiritualism to Modern Ukrainian Philosophy

At the event organised in collaboration between Bartın University (BARÜ) and The Ivan Franko National University of Lviv in Ukraine, the concepts of freedom, values and action, as well as Ukrainian philosophy in general, were discussed.

At the event titled “Freedom and Thought in Motion: From French Spiritualism to Modern Ukrainian Philosophy,” participants explored the concepts of freedom, value, and action, as well as the Ukrainian philosophical tradition, from various perspectives.

At the event, Assoc. Prof. Pavlo Bartusiak from the Faculty of Philosophy at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv delivered a presentation titled “Freedom, Virtue, and Action in the Philosophy of French Spiritualism,” in which he discussed French spiritualism through the lens of the existentialist tradition and the philosophy of Bergson. In the second presentation, Assoc. Prof. Andriy Nakonechnyy, also from the same university, discussed “Key Traits of Modern Ukrainian Philosophy,” highlighting prominent figures and fundamental ideas in Ukrainian philosophical thought.

Following the presentations, questions from the participants were answered, and the topics were discussed in detail. This event, the second of its kind organized as part of the academic collaboration between the two universities, further strengthened the ties between the institutions.
